Elevate Summer kicks off in Downtown Atlanta

The 1st annual Elevate Summer took place in the Downtown Broad St. Neighborhood, the same place where the 1st annual Elevate was held. Once considered an arts district, Camille Russell love, Executive Director of the Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs, says they wanted to bring the arts  back to the neighborhood. Home to several art galleries and organizations such as Murmur Media, Broad Street Visitors Center, Mammal Gallery, Eyedrum Music & Art Gallery and Downtown Player’s Club who contributed to the event by hosting exhibitions.  The art festival also included performances by Poetry Slam Inc’s National Poetry Slam Atlanta groups: Art Amok, Java Monkey, Fountain City (Brave New Voices team) and Just ‘N Thyme, Uma Pulendran, Ajmal “Mas Man’ Millar, Mausiki Scales & the Common Ground Collective with music by Speakerfoxxx & Bosco.

During the event Camille Russell-Love announced the artists curating Elevate Atlanta happening October 21-23. Curators for Elevate Atlanta 2016 are curators Monica Campana, Allie Bashuk, Pastiche Lumumba and Mark DiNatale.
