The High Museum of Art is giving visitors a sneak peak of the upcoming exhibition Fever within the Art of Ronald Lockett. On October 8, a esteemed group of panelists will discuss their perspective of Lockett’s work and what it means to develop their craft in Alabama in the 1980’s through today.
Originally from Bessemer, Alabama Lockett confronted issues of struggle, unfulfilled promises of the Civil Rights Movement and trauma that continue to resonate in the African American community. It’s the first retrospective dedicated to Lockett who died from AIDs related pneumonia at the young age of 32 years old. The Fever Within: The Art of Ronald Lockett opens Sunday October 9
